1. Applying Weed Wipeout
It may seem obvious, but proper application of any weed and moss killer is essential for it to work effectively.
Using it occasionally can give weeds more of an opportunity to spread, while uneven application can cause unnecessary damage to your grass.
When using Weed Wipeout, you should ensure that:
- The grass is dry. Always ensure the treatment is applied to dry grass or moss so it can be absorbed effectively. If your lawn is wet, the treatment can run off to other areas of your lawn
- Your lawn is a manageable height. Cutting your lawn to 1-1.5 inches will make sure your grass has better contact with the pellets
- Pellets are spread evenly. Use a spreader to evenly apply the pellets to your lawn. The recommended application rate for Weed Wipeout is 32g per m².
2. Watering after treatment application
Now that you have applied the treatment, you can move on to the next step, adding water.
Water, like with fertilising, activates the pellets by dissolving and allowing them to penetrate the soil to target moss and weed roots.
For effective watering, you should:
- Apply before rain is expected. To get the best results, you should apply the product when rain is expected within 48 hours. Rain supports the treatment by providing natural water to dissolve the pellets
- Irrigate when necessary. It is uncommon, but in the likely event that rain hasn’t fallen within 48 hours in the UK, then you will need to supply the water yourself. The affected area will need to be irrigated thoroughly to ensure the pellets have been dissolved and absorbed
3. Timing of applications
It goes without saying, but you should only be applying Weed Wipeout when your lawn has fallen victim to moss and weeds.
Unnecessary applications can affect your lawn’s development and cause patchy and uneven growth.
To prevent unnecessary damage, we recommend applying Weed Wipeout at these times:
- Early spring. Apply the treatment to emerging weeds in March and April so you can set your lawn up for success as the growing season begins
- Early autumn. Weeds tend to thrive in September and October, so an application at this time of year is ideal for targeting and managing new weed growth
Gone are the days of worrying about weeds and moss with Weed Wipeout on the case.
