Birdseed Banquet – Wildlife – Product Guide

a sunny field with trees casting shade on the grass

Birds can be a wonderful addition to any garden, as they can help with flower pollination, pest control, and weeds.

However, getting them to visit your garden can be difficult, as birds can be quite particular when it comes to the areas they frequent.

The main attraction of any garden for birds is food, particularly during winter when food is scarce.

Our Bird Banquet Bird Seed is packed with nutrients designed to appeal to various birds from robins and sparrows to wrens and song thrushes.

It contains birdfavourites like sunflower hearts, black sunflower seeds, and red and white millet, which is sure to have them returning to your garden.

In this guide, we will explore the best practices for feeding birds with our Bird Banquet Mix.

How to use Bird Banquet Seed Mix

Birds are very much like us in the way that they require a safe and comfortable environment to enjoy their food.

Follow the below tips to ensure birds return to your garden to feast again:

  • Use a bird feeder or tray. Distribute the food into bird feeders that are high above ground, with good visibility and near shelter. Use a tray for ground-feeding birds like blackbirds and sparrows and ensure it is in a safe and sheltered location to avoid predators
  • Avoid bushes and trees. Avoid placing your feeders too close to bushes and trees, as cats can use these as hiding places
  • Feed to demand. Do not panic if birds do not immediately flock to your garden; they need to learn that the food is there first. Start off with 20-30 grams of bird food per feeding session. If more birds start to appear, you can adjust based on the number of birds visiting and seasonal variations
  • Maintain a schedule. Birds will favour any environment where food is regularly available. Maintain a consistent schedule and aim to put out feed ideally once or twice daily
  • Keep it clean. Regularly clean bird feeders and trays to avoid a build-up of mould or bacteria, which can be harmful to birds. Use hot, soapy water and dry thoroughly before refilling

What else brings birds to a garden?

In addition to supplying food, there are some other ways you can make your garden a haven for a variety of birdlife.

Here are our top tips for making your garden more bird-friendly:

  • Provide a regular source of water. Birds are more likely to visit gardens that have water readily available, whether that’s in a bird bath or pond. They use this for both drinking and bathing. Always ensure the water is clean and fresh to prevent the spread of diseases
  • Add more natural food sources. Plant shrubs and trees that produce berries, like ivy, holly, or hawthorn, or wildflowers that attract insect’s that birds can feast on
  • Offer shelter and nesting areas. Create safe spaces where birds can rest and feed their young. You can do this by installing nesting boxes or planting a selection of dense shrubs and trees to provide protection from predators and harsh weather conditions
  • Keep your lawn lush. A healthy lawn provides the perfect foraging ground for birds, feeding them while also protecting your lawn from harmful insects – win, win!

Create a wildlife haven with our nutrient-packed and energy-boosting Bird Banquet Seed Mix.
